Results & Match Reports

Congratulations to the U9 Rangers, U9 Wanderers and U10 Wanderers who have all made it through to the semi-finals of the Challenge Cup.

Best of luck to these teams who will be playing the semi-finals on 16 August. Here's hoping for an all Gully's cup final in the U9's!

Results & Match Reports Tea Tree Gully 1-2 Elizabeth Vale

The boys came out in the first half and took the game to the Vale. We hit the post and they had a couple of chances with headers at the far post. With minutes left in the first half we spurned a great opportunity but had shown them we were here to give them a tough game.

The second half was reasonably even, then Greg Jerome surprisingly put the ball into the net from 25 yards. The Vale then started to get on top and dominated the centre of the midfield created numerous chances but not testing Danny. Then we gave them a penalty with 20 left. They continued to press and got the winner with just over 5 mins to go.

The boys played really well and can be proud of their efforts for a young group that has only just started to come together. The Gully man of the match was Jules Duval who kept Michael Brooks (ex Adelaide United) in his pocket all day. In saying that, all played well.

Seniors: Gully's Through to Cup Final!

Results & Match Reports TTG 3 St Peters 1

With a good start to the game with a Derek Simpson cracker we were away and tended to be the the better side in the first half.

We were solid at the back with Jules and Nick snuffing out all forays. The first half didn't show much from both sides though an injury to Derek robbed us of a main attacking option.

The second half was a slog for us as St Peters were the better side and equalized through a penalty, at that stage they were good value for 1-1.

In extra time the Gully boys changed their approach, pushed forward and in the first half Richie Moore did well putting us back in front. We were now well in control and didn't look like conceding, then with a couple of minutes to go Greg Jerome put the result out of reach, sealing the winner.

A 3-1 victory puts the Gully in the final for the first time since Col Plunkett was a youn gun!!

Plympton Bulldogs 0-2 TTG A's

After all the upheaval of this week, Gully travelled to Plympton with one thing in mind. With five changes to the side (3 suspensions, 1 injury, 1 illness) our depth would surely be tested.

First half didnt really reveal much with both sides playing long balls on a bouncy pitch, not testing the keepers and looking like an average game of football.

With Chops coming off injured at half time to be replaced by the C Team coach (his brother) we were just starting to get on top with some neat flicks setting up chances. Everyone was on top of their opposite numbers at this stage.

A couple of good opportunities were missed but we were pushing and looking the better side.

After seeing Ciaran Gartland strut his stuff for 25 minutes it was time to sub the sub. Beau came on and within 5 minutes we earned a penalty, to my and a few other observors (not his Mum or Simmo's) nervousness the sub was taking it - he duly put it away

Less than 5 minutes later Beau took a 25 metre throw in onto Woodsuy's head 2-0. Two minutes later he came of throwing up, his fifteen minutes of fame up

We then continued to pound their goal with their keeper doing some great work to keep the score 2-0.

That was Plympton's last game in Div 2 - well played everybody.

Plympton Bulldogs 1-2 TTG B's

The Reserves won the league today. Congrats to Lee Shilvock - a credit to the club - and also to all the contributors in the B's who are also a credit to the club.

West Beach 3-1 TTG A's

First time this year we've been outplayed. First ten we pushed them and could had a couple, they then had one disallowed and played us of the park. Some of our usual contributors down on form.

Some work to do - will need to lift this week to get back in the running.

TTG A's 3-2 Adelaide Vikings

Started off well - coulda had some early with a corner cleared off the line, Mike S missing a sitter as well as Woodsy.

Chad took his goal well , they then equalized with a cracker, Derek then headed us in front, and Smithy Ian gave us a buffer before they got another classy finish.

Two off the line , 3 sitters missed, 2 to 3 one on ones missed, and 3 goals scored to their 2 shots tells the story.

TTG B's 1-1 Adelaide Vikings

2 points dropped.

Modbury Vista 0-2 TTG A's

The Gully went to the Vista on Sunday with one thing on our minds - 6 points - and we got them comfortably.

The A's started of at a roaring pace with the opposition on the back foot for the opening 15 . Then with some terrible defending, Woodsy stepped up to swivel and volley a great goal.

We then continued at that pace and were well on top. Then with 15 to go in the first half we started to give away free kicks of which they would lob into the box only to see Danny take speccy after speccy. His distribution was also great.

We still gave them opportunities with plenty of free kicks on their small pitch, which they just punted up the park. Throughout these periods will still managed better efforts and looked more composed on the ball.

With 5-10 to go, Smithy's corner was too hot handle and they obligingly put it into the net.

The end result was 2-0 which was at least a fair result - maybe it should have been 4-0 in fairness though.

Can't wait to get them up on our mens pitch - don't think their long punts up the park will get them far!!!

Modbury Vista 1-3 TTG B's

The B's got up 3-1 but were leading the game 2-0 for most of the 90 minutes and were well on top throughout. The first goal was a cracker from Chops and Pete had the satisfaction of scoring and celebrating in front of the Muppets.

TTG C's - Bye

TTG A's 2-2 Adelaide Croatia

The A's came out early showing the Croatians they would be up against it, with plenty of the ball and pushing them early. We hit the post after 1 minute, then stupidly gave away a penalty after 10 minutes. 0-1.

We then pulled one back a few minutes later through Derek only to see another brain explosion and Chad was to be sent off a few minutes later.

We then went in front and continued to dominate til the half.

2nd half we came out the same and missed three very good chances only to see them attack, us balls it up and them score 2 from 2 shots. The last 15 we hurried our shots and blazed away not really troubling them.

Another 2 points thrown away with poor defending whilst not taking our chances.
