Hey Guys
Can't believe it's been two years since I was last here. Time flies when you're training hard. Guess I must have scared you all off with talk of getting the old team back together.
Well I'm as fit as I never was, who's up for it?
Dave... |

| hey Alex, iremember that riot as if it happened yesterday ,it was Alan tarry involved and his youngerbrother Dave tarry jumped in to help, we were all chanting and stirring them up on the side lines ,very serious at the time .The referee that day was Dave Merideth, whos son came to Chris came over to Perth and played along side me for a few Years. Hee actually passed awat i believe whilst refereeing a game. i was unaware that Billy GRAYhad passed away...Great to hear your thought about my dad, he was a good coach as well as a father,i remember those early days ,they were great fun...if you can get me a copy of that photo i would love to see it ,as i have a rare photo that i can send to you. my home email is pacafirth@YAHOO.COM OR WORK cfirth@rangeford.com.au.......best wishes Chris Firth |

Hi Everyone
My name is Alex Blackwood and just stumbled on the club website by accident. My brother Tom & I had the privilege of playing in the first game for the club in 1972. I was 25 and fresh off the plane from Scotland to join my older brother Tom who had been here for some time. If I remember correctly the first game was played as a friendly (can't remember the other team) at Glenside Hospital and we got cuffed 6-0. Tom played in goals and I was up forward somewhere?? I have a photocopy of a team photo taken that day and I believe Tom has an original. I think it was taken by the late Stan Woffindin who worked with Tom at Austral Steel and of course I got roped in ASAP. When we started for real (Div 6) I couldn't get to training regularly because of shift work so played only a few games for the first team and quite a few for the reserves. You ask about memorable games - I remember one Sunday we played a Yugoslavian based team at O'Sullivans Beach which ended in a minor riot!! If my memory serves me well - it started when our winger (Alan Tarry I think) got into a tussle with a very tall bearded opposition player and gave him a push, of course it had to be in front of our quite considerable travelling support. Well he reacted badly and it was on for young and old and someone actually rang for the cops to escort the ref away in a police car with the game abandoned. I think both teams were hauled over the coals for it. I particularly remember it well because I scored 5 goals for the reserves in the first game and Ray Firth (sorry to hear that he has passed away - a very nice man & he had a great knowledge of the game ) put me on the bench for the first team game. It was interesting to read all the old names such as Dennis Widdop, Trevor Dixon etc - although Tom & I weren't there that long (we moved to Somerton Pk) they were great days and I remember them very fondly. Another team mate that hasn't appeared yet was the late Billy Gray (father of Modbury coach and a real character) I remember a young lad running around with a Celtic strip on - I am guessing that would have been Duane. Anyway rattling on now - hope someone remembers Tom & I from those great early days of the club.

Hi boys Jeff Pitt here. I started at the Gully in the under 14's back in 1980. I played for 22 years until retiring at the age of 35 in the year 2002. I became a life member in 1996.
I've played with alot of the old buggers mentioned and not mentioned on this forum,in the likes of Plunket,Hughesy,Sunter,
Buckey,Nuttle,Stoney,Gordey,Tickey,Whitehead,Pocock,Johnny,Charley,Simmo and that crazy man Devlin!! Just to name a few, any others please jog my memory.
By the way do you remember the "BOYS NIGHTS OUT" ????Great nights up at the club!!!!!
One bitch about the club is they don't have a Honour Board displayed in the clubrooms like most clubs. No recognition for past players, and award winners or life members.
And last but not least,
Hows super Sal these days ????????? |

Dave, have you got a date for the game yet ?
I'm already in training.... although I reckon I'll just stand around and let you clean-up as normal...I had forgotten just how good you were.
Good to hear from you.
When is the "old timers/past players" get together ? |

Bloody hell Grant. You had me searching through the trophy chest... and unfortunately you were right, amongst other things (???) I found a commemorative bottle of port for '83 Div 1 League Champions.
Firthy, haven't forgotten the photos |

And bye the way Dave:
Cup winners in 81 and 85.
League winners in 83 (we were cup runners up that year).
Not that I'm living in the past or anything. |

Dave,
Sounds like a great idea but..... I was at the final on the weekend and saw a few of the other boys from Larry's team. We might be in a bit of trouble unless we're playing 5mins each way on a very small pitch. |
